Bike Futures British Cycling qualified coaches run progressive cycling sessions for different Year groups, usually working with up to 15 children at a time.
As well as teaching children how to safety check their bicycle (the 'M' Check) we focus on essential safety skills of bike control and braking.
As the children progress we introduce balance and co-ordination skills and gear selection. All sessions are risk assessed and playground based, utilising the space available.
Children develop their cycle ability at different stages, all sessions are fully inclusive. Non riders can also participate and often become riders after a couple of sessions.
Bike Futures is able to support a school's growing cycling culture with provision of bikes, advice on bike storage, provision of Train the Trainer Programmes and signposting to other cycle related opportunities like Bikeability for schools.
